Music

Ever since the beginning days of MCUUF, music has been a central part of our Sunday services. We have many talented musicians in our midst, but we always have room for more! As a musician at MCUUF you can be involved in several ways, from singing with the MCUUF Singers, to accompanying hymnal singing during services, to playing for our service preludes and helping our children’s choir develop their musical gifts. We welcome all styles and instruments, and only a love of music and an eagerness to share your music with others is all that is required, so please consider joining in one of the following areas.

On any given Sunday you will hear music at MCUUF – instrumental and vocal, and the styles and instruments may surprise you: from Eastern European folk to classical to jazz, pop, and everything in between. At MCUUF you will hear piano, guitar, flute, violin, banjo, and more. Join us! If you play an instrument and want to join in, please contact mcuuf1@gmail.com

MCUUF Singers

The MCUUF Singers may be different than church choirs you have experienced before – we are lay-led (no professional director), strive to sing accessible and energetic pieces for Sunday services, and last but not least, have fun doing it. We welcome anyone who loves to sing – no formal voice or music training is required, and even if you do not consider yourself a music sight-reader, we invite you to join us.

MCUUF Singers practice on the 4th Sunday of each month at 9 AM for performance later during the service. A copy of the music to be practiced may be obtained in advance by e-mailing mcuuf1@gmail.com

Sunday Service Pre-Service practice:

On Sunday mornings at 9:45, for those who would like, a run through of the songs we will be singing during the morning service will be practiced with the accompanying musician. All are welcome!

Sunday Service Piano Accompanists

We have a rotating group of volunteer musicians who accompany our hymns which the congregation sings. We would love to add you to that list if you enjoy accompanying – please contact mcuuf1@gmail.com
